Omatsu practice · Lausanne

Chinese medicine and lymphatic drainage, without mystique and without hurry.

Anne-Sophie Tyc sees one patient at a time on Avenue Montagibert: a full assessment before any treatment, an explanation of what is being done, and a plan you actually understand. Persistent pain, post-operative recovery, heavy legs, sleep, digestion.

What to know before you read anything else

ASCA recognition means sessions are frequently covered by Swiss complementary insurance — not by basic LAMal cover. The rate and annual ceiling depend entirely on your own policy, so please confirm with your insurer before your first appointment. A receipt in the required format is issued after every session.

Your visit

What actually happens during a session

The practice sits in the quiet residential Montagibert quarter, on the slope between central Lausanne and Sallaz — a short walk from the CHUV, but on a calm street rather than a busy axis.

Allow 75 to 90 minutes for a first appointment and around 60 minutes for follow-ups. Every session opens with the assessment: sleep, digestion, energy, cycle, temperature, history, then examination of the tongue and pulses. Nothing is done to you before the picture is clear.

The treatment itself follows, then a short debrief: what was done, what to expect over the next 48 hours, and when to come back. Most patients are asked to judge the approach over three or four sessions rather than one.

Bring loose clothing: An-Mo/Tuina is worked through fabric.

  1. 1

    Assessment

A detailed conversation, examination of the tongue and the taking of the pulses. Everything else follows from this.

  2. 2

    Treatment

Acupuncture, drainage, An-Mo/Tuina — alone or combined, according to what the assessment indicates.

  3. 3

    Follow-up

What was done, what you may feel afterwards, and a session rhythm reassessed openly with you.

Treatments

Four disciplines, four different reasons to come

They look alike from the outside, yet they share neither indications, nor technique, nor duration. Here is how to choose.

acupuncture needles inserted into skin

Acupuncture

針灸

Come here ifPersistent pain, sleep and stress, digestive complaints, menstrual and menopausal symptoms, fertility support.

Fine, sterile, single-use needles are placed at specific points to influence the circulation of qi and blood. Point selection comes from the assessment — history, tongue, pulse — rather than from the symptom alone. Most needles are barely felt: the expected sensation is a brief dull heaviness at the point, not a sharp prick. What patients report most often is not an instant fix but a change in the baseline: sleeping through the night again, or a pain that stops organising the whole week around itself.

  • Back, neck, shoulders
  • Migraines
  • Sleep and stress
  • Cycle and fertility

Duration60 min

Manual lymphatic drainage

淋巴引流

Come here ifPost-operative and post-aesthetic-surgery recovery, pregnancy oedema, heavy legs, lymphoedema follow-up.

A slow, precise, very light-pressure technique that follows the lymphatic pathways to help the body move interstitial fluid towards functioning nodes. It is nothing like a deep-tissue massage: the pressure is a fraction of what most people expect, and the rhythm is what does the work. Demand comes above all from after surgery, where swelling and fibrosis slow healing down. Patients leave noticeably lighter, with reduced tension in the treated region.

  • Aesthetic surgery
  • Pregnancy
  • Heavy legs

Duration60 or 90 min

Intricate network of blood vessels and arteries

An-Mo / Tuina

按摩 · 推拿

Come here ifMusculoskeletal complaints, desk-work tension, and abdominal work for the digestive sphere.

An-Mo and Tuina are the manual therapies of Chinese medicine: pressing, kneading, rolling and stretching along the meridians, combined with joint mobilisation — through loose clothing, without oil. It is firmer and more targeted than a relaxation massage. People come for a stiff neck, a locked shoulder, a lower back tightened by desk work, and also for abdominal massage, which addresses sluggish digestion, bloating and the tension people hold in the belly. The gain in range of movement is usually immediate.

中醫

Come here ifComplaints that are diffuse, long-standing, or already investigated without a clear answer.

The first appointment is a full Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment rather than a treatment slot. A detailed conversation about sleep, digestion, energy, cycle, temperature and history, followed by examination of the tongue and pulses. From that, Anne-Sophie builds a reading of the underlying pattern and proposes a plan: which disciplines to use, in what order, and after how many sessions the approach should be reassessed. You leave with an explanation and a plan, not a vague promise.

The practitioner

Anne-Sophie Tyc

One practitioner, from the first call to the last session

Anne-Sophie Tyc practises four related disciplines in Lausanne: acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine consultation on one side, manual lymphatic drainage and An-Mo/Tuina on the other. The combination is not a catalogue — it means the same person can be treated with whichever technique suits the moment they are consulting, rather than forcing every complaint into a single method. Omatsu is deliberately small: one patient at a time, time for the assessment, and plain language rather than esoteric vocabulary. Consultations are held in French, English or German.

  • ASCA-recognised therapist (Swiss foundation for complementary medicine)
  • Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • Manual lymphatic drainage — post-operative, aesthetic, pregnancy
  • An-Mo / Tuina, including abdominal massage
  • Consultations in French, English and German
  • Omatsu practice, Avenue Montagibert 8, 1005 Lausanne

Feedback

What patients say

★★★★★

I came in for post-operative drainage and was expecting something rough. It was the opposite — very light, very methodical, and the swelling in my leg was visibly down after the third session.

★★★★★

Two years of tension headaches. She spent forty minutes just asking questions before touching a needle, which no one had done before. I sleep properly again.

J
Julien M.

★★★★

Clear explanations at every step, and she tells you honestly how many sessions she thinks you will need instead of selling you a package. The room is calm and spotless.

★★★★★

Booked Tuina for a shoulder I had stopped being able to lift. Firmer than I expected and exactly what it needed. Back at the climbing gym six weeks later.

★★★★★

Pregnancy left my legs heavy and painful. The drainage sessions were the only thing that genuinely helped, and she adapted everything to the trimester.

★★★★

Consultation in English without any trouble, which mattered to me. Practical, unfussy, no mysticism — she explains the reasoning behind the treatment.

Practical info

The questions patients actually ask — rather than the ones that are pleasant to answer.

Before your visit

No. You can book directly; no medical prescription is required.

Anne-Sophie Tyc is ASCA-recognised, so sessions are frequently covered by Swiss complementary insurance — not by basic LAMal cover. The rate and annual ceiling depend on your policy, so check with your insurer before your first appointment. A receipt in the required format is issued after every session.

The needles are roughly the thickness of a hair, and they are sterile and single-use. Most points are barely felt; some produce a brief dull heaviness, which is the expected sensation.

Loose, comfortable clothing for An-Mo/Tuina, your insurance details, and a list of any current medication. Eat something light beforehand: arriving on an empty stomach is the most common reason a patient feels faint during acupuncture.

75 to 90 minutes for a first consultation, around 60 minutes for follow-ups, and 60 or 90 minutes for lymphatic drainage depending on the area treated.

Usually relaxed, and sometimes tired for a few hours. Drink water and avoid intense exercise and alcohol on the same day.

Three to four, after which the plan is reassessed openly with you.

Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so the slot can be offered to someone else.
